I Hear The Train A Comin!

As we struggle to move toward a national direct support standard, The Scoop tells us today that Indiana state workers suggest that families drop their adult children, with disabilities, at homeless shelters.
The outcry for adequate competent support workers for families, keeping their adult children at home, quite often due to the long "waiting lists" in states, goes unheard.

The crisis is here - when a well meaning person can even suggest that you take your adult child to a homeless shelter exemplifies ,they are running out of resources. Offering the only thing they could think of for some relief for families that need a small amount of support.

Who really loses here is that young person who with support could lead a very productive meaningful life. In the case in Indiana, he gets to spend the day setting in his fathers pick-up, waiting!

I hear the train a comin and we had better takes steps to get off the track.
