It seems that there is this gremlin going around making people think that when they are employed as a Direct Support staff(I won't use professional here) that it was going to be easy and that all you really need to do is some form of adult day care - Even after 40+ hours of training including Dr. Tom Pomeranz, the misconception still exists. What does it take for people to understand that in your hands every day, you hold the future of the people that you serve. Where is the vision? Where is the initiative? Where is the simple basic concept that all human life is valuable? Where is the urgency, where is the pride in what we do?
We are setting on the edge of a cliff and if we do not get this bus turned around we will be diving head long into the abyss and many people, whose lives are in our hands will be going with us. It is time to slam on the brakes and move in the right direction! Lets work together to make it happen today!
